Agricultural Protection & Development Services

The mission of the Division of Agricultural Protection and Development Services is to protect and strengthen the viability of New York’s food and agricultural industry. The food and agricultural industry in New York is a composite of several industries including production agriculture, the provision of inputs to farmers, food processing and manufacturing, and food and commodity distribution and marketing. Collectively, these sectors generate a very large portion of the State’s jobs and business revenues and are a major contributor to New York’s economy.

The Division is specifically responsible for four broad program areas designed to support and serve the State’s food and agricultural industry:

Agricultural Protection

Agricultural Industry Development

Agricultural Producer Security

Agricultural Labor
